ECC 1st XI vs East Preston CC, 1st XI
In typical eastergate fashion the stand in skipper Curtis lost the toss again and we were asked to bat. Openers Rew and Jack got the team off to a start putting on 36 before a couple of wickets fell.
Curtis scored a quick fire 47 including two 4’s and five 6’s, more middle order wickets fell before Harvey steady the ship with an excellent 40 down the order. Small contributions from the bottom order helped stretch the total to 206/9 at the end of 40 overs.
Henry and Josh got the bowling innings off to a tight start picking up a couple of crucial early wickets. East Preston then battled back to 123/5 before an injury to one of their batsman caused a near 2hr delay to the game.
The game then resumed with East Preston needing 84runs and Eastergate the 5 wickets. Harvey then picked up a could have quick wickets after the resumption of play with Josh and Jack coming back on to finish up the tail in what was a good game of cricket.
Another 30 point weekend for the 1st XI
