ECC 4th XI vs Aldwick CC, 3rd XI

Eastergate 4s produced an excellent all-round performance at home to Aldwick 3s after losing the toss and being asked to field first.

The decision appeared to work in Eastergate’s favour straight away, with the bowlers taking advantage of the conditions and keeping the pressure on throughout the innings. Aldwick were eventually dismissed for 175 after some disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.

Jon Arman was the standout performer with the ball, claiming superb figures of 4-30 from his 9 overs, while Will Holland and Nick Wright both chipped in with two wickets apiece. William Lake also bowled an exceptionally economical spell, conceding just 11 runs from his 5 overs.

Eastergate’s reply saw a few early wickets fall, but the innings was transformed by a magnificent unbeaten century from Will Holland. Playing with confidence and attacking intent, he struck 102 not out from just 75 balls, including 18 fours and a six, steering the chase in style.

Jamie Grigg provided calm support at the other end with a valuable unbeaten 24 as the pair guided Eastergate home to complete an impressive victory.

The day also marked a special occasion for Gary Cornelius, who made his debut for Eastergate 4s. Everyone at the club congratulates Gary on his first appearance and we look forward to seeing many more performances in an Eastergate shirt.
