ECC 1st XI vs Himani CC, 1st XI

17 June 2025 | Joe Edwards
ECC 1st XI vs Himani CC, 1st XI

The boys travelled up to Himani this weekend looking to continue their good start to the season. A minutes silence was held before the game to remember the lost ones in the Air India incident last week. The home side won the toss and elected to field.

Liam and Jack opened again looking to continue their form batting with eachother but Liam made 14 before being caught behind. Henry came to the crease at number 3 and batted really well with Jack until Jack swiped at a wide delivery and was caught well at point for 18. Joey then joined Henry in the middle looking to keep ticking over the score. The youngster was then bowled by a ball that hit the pitch on a good length and rolled underneath his bat. Brad replaced Joey at the crease but Henry was caught by the wicket keeper after making a very good 32. Brad then welcomed Dan to the middle but shortly after Dan departed for 1. The skipper then found himself in the middle and went for the attacking route before Brad was dismissed being caught for 9. Harvey now out there with Andy before the skipper played all around the ball and was bowled for 12. Craig was welcomed by Harvey and was hitting the ball to all parts of the ground including 3 sixes and a four. Harvey also hit a four but the ball didn’t cross the boundary so the boys had to run them hard after this Harvey was bowled for 7. Craig’s short but sweet stint finished as well hitting 27 off 14 balls. This left Jamie and Josh in the middle but sadly Jamie walked away with a duck and the gate finished on 151 all out.

The usual openers off Henry and Josh began the bowling innings and as usual they did their job brilliantly with Henry picking up an early wicket. Jamie and Craig then replaced the openers with Craig picking up a wicket caught by Joey. Harvey and Brad were chosen to be the death bowlers again and they did their job as well. Harvey picking up 3 wickets with 2 being caught by Jamie and the other by the skipper at first slip. Brad also claimed a wicket bowled as the gate restricted Himani to 139-6 after their 40 overs.

Eastergate win by 12 runs

Special Mentions: Henry 32 & 1-10, Andy good catch at slip, Harvey 3-21, Craig 27 off 14 & 1-21, Brad 1-37, Jamie 2 very good catches & 2 economy and Josh 3.63 economy.

The 1st XI are back at HOME this weekend for a top of the table clash with rivals Bosham.
