ECC 1st XI vs Bosham CC, 1st XI

Rivals Bosham were welcomed to the gate on what was scheduled to be a scorching afternoon in the sun. Bosham won the toss and elected the bowl first.

Liam and Jack opened the batting once again Liam was unlucky to fall in the second over after a good catch at short midwicket. Henry then joined Jack at the crease with these two putting on a 108 run partnership which included Jack with a run a ball 50 before Henry was bowled for 42. Brad was then welcomed by Jack and he made a quick 22 before being caught on the boundary. Dan then joined Jack in the middle before chipping one back to the bowler for 13. The skipper then tried to continue the momentum with 10 before being given out LBW trying to sweep. Joey then joined Jack before his innings came to an end after a well earned 72. The two youngsters were now at the crease together looking to score quick runs and they both did that. Joey hit a 32 off 14 balls before being caught at square leg and Harvey hit 16 before being bowled. This led to cameos from Craig and Jamie to see the innings through and the gate finished on 280-8 off 40 overs.

Henry and Josh opened like they normally do with Josh picking up an early wicket with a good catch by Jamie. Henry would then join the party getting the Bosham number 3 caught at cover by Brad. The first change bowlers of Craig and Jamie both picked up wickets with Craig’s being caught by Jamie and Liam and Jamie’s wickets one being bowled and the other caught by Joey. Liam also contributed with a direct hit run out to keep the momentum in our favour. Unfortunately for the lads the Bosham number 4 batted really well and single handily won the game for them hitting 114* as the gate lose by 2 wickets.

Unlucky loss for the boys. However they are at HOME again this weekend to Pagham 2nd XI.
