Under 15/16 vs Pagham CC, Under 15

Eastergate Triumph in Convincing Win Over Pagham

Eastergate CC Under 15 delivered a confident and composed performance to secure a commanding victory over Pagham CC Under 15 in their latest youth fixture. Led by a strong batting display and disciplined bowling effort, Eastergate chased down their target with minimal fuss.

Pagham Innings: 124/6

Batting first, Pagham got off to a shaky start, losing H Barker for a duck on the first ball. Despite a few small partnerships, it was the Mason duo who stood out for Pagham. G Mason played a steady knock of 32 (40 balls, 5 fours), while O Mason, the captain, added a crucial 34 off just 13 balls, striking three fours and three sixes at a blistering strike rate of 261.54. G Hughes also contributed 20 from 16 deliveries.

However, regular breakthroughs from Eastergate’s bowlers kept Pagham in check. H Comins and W Holland claimed two wickets each, while H Booker and A Booker chipped in with one apiece. Tight fielding and bowling pressure ensured Pagham couldn’t build significant momentum, and they ended on 124/6 from their allotted overs.

Eastergate Innings: 126/1

Eastergate responded in style, with their top order showing great composure and aggression. After losing A Arman early for 5 (caught by O Mason off H Kearsley), the partnership between wicketkeeper H Blunden and W Holland stole the show.

Blunden smashed an unbeaten 31 from 23 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Holland anchored the innings with a confident 30 from 28 deliveries. Both batters rotated the strike well and punished loose deliveries, making light work of the chase.

N Wright (14*) and A Booker (4*) saw the team home comfortably after the platform was set, ensuring Eastergate crossed the target with wickets and 3 overs to spare. With 42 extras gifted by Pagham (including 24 wides and 8 no-balls), the task became even more manageable for the chasing side.

Result: Eastergate CC Under 15 won by 9 wickets

This win reflects Eastergate’s all-round strength, with notable bowling performances backed up by smart, aggressive batting. Their focus now turns to continuing this momentum in the upcoming fixtures as they look to maintain a strong position in the competition.
