The Gaters 1s saw local team Arundel travel to the gate this evening. Arundel won the toss and elected to field after a wet early morning.
Eastergate CC Innings: 154/8 (20 Overs)
After being sent in to bat by Arundel, Eastergate made a strong start with D Jazdevics leading the charge. His explosive 47 off 20 balls, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes, set the tone early with a rapid strike rate of 235.00. The backbone of the innings, however, came from H Grant, who held the middle together with a composed 51 off 46 deliveries, hitting 7 fours and 1 six.
Despite some middle-order struggles — including four ducks — a late flourish from C Edwards (14 off 11) and J Murphy (3 off 2) ensured Eastergate posted a competitive 154/8 from their 20 overs.
Arundel’s bowling effort was led by B J Towe, who picked up 3 wickets, supported by E Barrett and E Pain, who chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
Arundel CC Innings: 119/9 (20 Overs)
In reply, Arundel CC faltered in the chase. Wickets fell regularly, and they struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Eastergate’s bowling was disciplined and effective, led by a sensational spell from B Rose, who tore through the batting line-up with figures of 5/14 in his four overs — the clear standout performance of the match.
J Murphy (1/18) and H Grant (1/22) also bowled economically, keeping the pressure on Arundel throughout. As well as C Edwards picking up (1/43) opening the bowling with S Grant (0/15) bowling well up top. Despite some resistance in the middle overs, Arundel ultimately fell short, finishing on 119/9 in their 20 overs.
Overall good team performance from the boys as the unbeaten run in the T20 Slam continues. The next Slam game is 16th June Away to Pagham. The 1st XI are back in action at Home this Saturday to Findon 2nd XI supporters welcomed.
